Definition of terms used in this store
- Fill Power: Down quality is rated by fill power, or the amount of space one ounce of down will occupy.
- Fill Weight: Your preferred sleeping temperature determines the weight you should select.
- Warmth level: Determined by a combination of Fill Power and Fill Weight.
- Thread Count: The number of threads in the square inch of fabric. The higher the thread count, the less likely that down will leak after years of service. Also, with cotton fabrics, the higher the thread count, the silkier the fabric feels.
- Baffle Wall Construction: The quilting patterns of the comforter is not sewn through. A vertical wall of fabric (baffle) allows the down to expand to its fullest potential for the highest loft with no cold spots.

Am I allergic to down and feather products?
Some people who believe that they are allergic to feathers and down are actually allergic to the dust and dirt can accumulate in old bedding over time. It is widely known in our industry that it is not the filling material itself, which causes allergic reaction. In fact what people believe to be allergies to down products are actually caused by the waste products which are left behind by dust mites. As a preventative measure to the growth of dust mites, we use high thread count fabric which not only keeps down in but also tight enough to keep mites out. Comfort Down's down is washed up to eight times, which makes it cleaner than our competitors' down. Also, Comfort Down's down products are warranted to be hypoallergenic. If you are not completely allergy free we will replace the product or refund your money.

When should I shake out my comforter?
You should first shake out your comforter when you take it out or its original packaging. This allows the down to loft and disperse evenly within all the pockets. We also recommend that you shake your down comforter each time you make your bed, to keep the down evenly dispersed and fluffy.

How do I keep my comforter in place inside the cover?
You can use Velcro or comforter garters to hold the corners of the comforter to the corners of the cover. To prevent leaks in your down comforter or pillow, never pin your cover.

How do I distribute the down evenly again if it shifts to the edge?
Shaking out your comforter regularly helps to restores it to its original puffy shape and also helps to maximize the loft (allowing the inside of the comforter to absorb fresh air, which when warmed by body heat, acts as a natural insulator) and in turn provides you with greater warmth.

How do I clean and care for my down product?
- How often should I clean my comforter?
While this is largely a personal decision, most people clean their comforter once a season or depending on use, perhaps even more frequently. If you use a duvet cover, you may not have to clean your comforter but once every 2 to 4 years. One way that some people measure if their comforter needs a cleaning is by its reduced loft. You should clean your comforter when simple shaking does not help to restore its original loft. It is highly recommended that you follow proper cleaning instructions or use an experienced cleaning service. Remember that improper cleaning procedures or too frequent cleaning can wear and age the comforter fabric.
Feather and down products can be washed, though great care must be taken when doing so. It is highly recommended that you follow proper cleaning instructions or use an experienced cleaning service. If you must wash the comforter yourself, use commercial machines when washing your comforter. They are better equipped in size, agitation methods. Do not use any harsh chemicals or detergents. Also since drying time may be several hours (depending on the size of the comforter), and commercial machines are capable of continuous operations (up to the 6 hours) that your comforter may require to dry thoroughly. It is important to allow your comforter to fully dry. Wet down and feather is heavy and may cause strains or tears to the fabric, and leave a damp musty odor. You will know when your comforter is fully dry when its full loft has returned, signaling that the down and feather is fully dry and no wet clumps are remaining.
- What is the best way to thoroughly clean my comforter?
The best way to clean your comforter is to have it dry cleaned by an experienced down and feather cleaning professional. Be sure to inquire about the cleaning service's history, experience, and guarantee.
- What is the best way to spot clean my comforter?
You spot clean the fabric of your pillow or comforter by using a mild soap or gentle fabric spot cleaner. Gently work the area without getting the down and feather wet. Rinse with water. Thoroughly dry the fabric with a portable hair dryer.
